미국의 포크 듀오 사이먼 앤 가펑클의 'The Sounds of Silence'는 1964년 10월 19일에 발매된 데뷔 앨범 [Wednesday Morning, 3 AM]에 수록이 되었지만 별다른 주목을 받지 못하였습니다.
'The Sounds of Silence'는 1965년 9월 12일에 재녹음을 하여 다시 싱글로 발매가 되었고, 빌보드 핫 100 1위 등을 기록하며 크게 히트를 하였고, 1966년 1월에 발매된 2집 앨범 [Sounds of Silence]에 수록이 되었습니다.
